About myself
Name pronounciation
IPA: ʤɛnan zukiʨ. Bosnian Latin: Dženan Zukić. Bosnian Cyrillic: Џенан Зукић.
If using English writing rules, there is more than one possible way to write my name. The most logical one is: Janan Zookich. German rules: Dschenan Sukitsch. Since my first name has Arabic origin, it can be written in Arabic too: جنان.
Less important matters :)
I was born in Sarajevo (in a country that was called Yugoslavia at that time) on 30th October 1983. Ten years later that country broke up in a bloody war (is there a war that is not bloody?). The hardest hit was Bosnia. My family estate happened to be on the front line, and was completely destroyed, along with much of the country's infrastructure.
The country still feels the consequences in many areas, with higher education being one of them. After graduating from Electrical Engineering Faculty, University of Sarajevo, I looked for a higher quality post-graduate education abroad (although the situation was rapidly improving, I could not wait). The country of my choice was Germany, because I learned German language in high-school. Furthermore, Siegen was one of the rare cities that offered a program in English (that was important, because I do not speak German well, even now).
Spine dataset
On 8th October 2010 I had an MRI scan of my lower spine. The datasets are here.
