Register for this course in Moodle (https://moodle.uni-siegen.de/), the registration key will be sent via UNISONO mail.

The lecture contents are uploaded as slides in Moodle, the lecture takes place synchronously via zoom (zoom dial-in data can be found in Moodle) and will be recorded and uploaded to Moodle. The exercise sheets are uploaded in Moodle and the explanation of the solution is provided asynchronously as video in Moodle. Questions and discussions take place during the regular time-slot of the course synchronously in zoom. The exercises are recorded and made available in Moodle.

25.02.21: Information regarding the Scientific Visualization examination in Winter 2020/21
 
1. The Scientific Visualization exam will be held as remote oral exam this semester. All students that are registered in UNISONO are automatically registered for the oral exam. In case you intend not to take this exam, please de-register at the examination office.
 
2. Please send a mail to andreas.kolb@uni-siegen.de in case you want to take the remote oral exam this semester.

Goals:

Scientific Visualization is about the visual representation of simulation and measurement data from medicine, natural sciences, and technology. This lecture focusses on interactive techniques that map abstract data to visualizable geometry.

Contents:

  • Grid types and interpolation
  • 2D scalar fields
  • Vector field topology and particle traces
  • 2D and 3D flow visualization
  • Direct and indirect volume visualization
  • Hardware-accelerated volume rendering

The tutorial illustrates and deepens the material by means of programming examples and practical arithmetical tasks.
The project task allows the combination of different techniques in a separate small project.
