Prof. Dr. Andreas Kolb
About
Andreas Kolb is head of the Computer Graphics and Multimedia Systems Group at the University of Siegen since 2003. His academy background is computer graphics and visualization. He received his PhD at the University of Erlangen in 1995 under supervision of Prof. H.-P. Seidel. Prior to his position at the University of Siegen, he was Professor for computer graphics at the University of Applied Sciences Wedel near Hamburg. Prof. Kolb is member of the Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS) at the University of Siegen (since 2005), of ACM/SIGGRAPH (since 2002), Eurographics Association (since 2001) and of Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI, since 1998).

Currently, Andreas Kolb is conducting several public funded research projects:
- Dynamic 3D Vision: Within this DFG-funded research package, he and his group investigate calibration, fusion and image based rendering based on PMD technology.
- Bistatic Exploration: Within this DFG-funded research package, he and his group develop fast and accurate algorithms for the visualization of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images.
- Lynkeus: Within this BMB+F-funded research program, he and his group investigate fast PMD simulation techniques and real-time environment modelling algorithms.
- Siegen Graduate School: This graduate school Development of Integral Heterosensor Architectures for the n-Dimensional (Bio)chemical Analysis, funded by the University of Siegen, deals with various aspects of heterogeneous sensoric arrays for (bio)chemical analysis. The research focus of the Graphics Group is interactive, explorative visualization and simulation of sensors on the microscale.
- NRW Research School "MOSES": This research school on Multi-Modal Sensor Systems for Environmental Exploration focuses on methods of remote and in-situ sensing technologies.
